On 6th July, the iconic big top of the Canadian circus company, Cirque du Soleil, opened its doors at PortAventura World, set to enchant guests until 13th August. The spell-binding circus troupe will hold twice-daily performances at 18:00 and 21:30, making PortAventura World the only European resort to offer visitors the opportunity to experience the magic of Cirque du Soleil.
Varekai tells the story of a solitary young man who falls from the sky and lands in the shadows of a magic forest – a kaleidoscopic world full of exotic creatures, where he embarks upon an extraordinary adventure. Varekai, meaning “wherever”, pays homage to the nomadic spirit, to the soul, and to the art of the circus tradition as well as to the infinite passion of those who seek the path that leads to this special place.
In Varekai, the impossible becomes possible thanks to the performer’s legendary acrobatic and dare-devil skills, accompanied by entrancing music and mesmerising choreography set in a supernatural landscape. An international cast, consisting of over 50 artists and musicians, ignites the show’s soul.
This successful collaboration between PortAventura World and Cirque du Soleil began with Kooza in 2014 and continued with Amaluna in 2015. Cirque du Soleil will continue to set up their summer base at PortAventura World until 2020. By welcoming the iconic tent into the resort, PortAventura World reaffirms its strategy of creating, year after year, new international benchmarks that position the resort as the best family holiday and leisure destination.
With this show, PortAventura World expects to receive more than 110,000 spectators. Tickets can be purchased from the PortAventura World website.
